Hello POTN,

Well, I have quite the predicament on my hands. I have been using Lightroom 1.3 for the past few months and really like it, but as of a few days ago I can no longer open the program. I get an error message that says

"The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way."

Does anybody know what I can do to try and fix the problem? I have restarted my computer and shut down for the night and checked in the morning after and neither have worked. Would uninstalling it and reinstalling fix this problem? I am also running it on Vista if that makes any difference. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Kyle

Hold down Ctrl while starting and let it start a new catalog, and see if that will launch. That will help define where the problem's occuring.

I'd also update to 1.4.1, as that fixed a number of bugs.

And try deleting the preferences file, as that solves a number of weird bugs.

And if that doesn't do the trick, report back!

^Holding Ctrl down when starting it seems to have done the trick. Thank you very much!!! :D

Well, just to bump this from the depths ........

I finally installed LR1.3.1 on a Vista machine and when I click to Import from DEVICE it's as though LR tries to divide by zero. It crashes or it hangs or does something bizarre.

1.4.x takes care of these and other issues?

Definitely update Lightroom from the Adobe site before importing your library. Lightroom 1 worked a lot of bugs out through its various version updates.

Sometimes there are little glitches when you do a high volume of importing. Try importing a few gig at a time rather than thousands of files.
