Folks

This little fella came down to feed on some peanuts in a Bird feeder in my local nature reserve. It was a first for me as i have never seen a woodpecker before let alone have my camera with me at the same time. Its a shame he wasn't fully side on but he didn't stay there for long before he flew off so any picture is better than none :)

Canon 10D, 100 - 400is, F5.6, 1/125

That's a great shot. Woodpeckers around here are very skittish, never stay long enough for a photo. Maybe at a feeder they would linger a bit.

Thanks for your comments, In my part of the world they are not seen very often so was pleased to be there at the right time

Thats a nice shot of the woodpecker. I've gotten lots of shots of similar woodpeckers but they have yet to come out as sharp as yours did. Good job! :D

That is one great shot, Woodpeckers are very tough to photograph because the keep bouncing around the tree and never stay in one spot very long. You did good :)
