I am looking at getting more CF cards for my 350D(XT) I have found some deals on Ebay(very reasonable) I was wondering if anyone had experiences w/ purchasing CF cards off of ebay, esp. from overseas. The cards are labeled as: NEW 2GB COMPACT FLASH MEMORY CARD ULTRA II 2 CF SPEEDY,no "brand name" though......any insight would be great!!

Avoid. I had to make assumptions but you'll read on these forums that there are many problems with buying memory cards off ebay, especially those shipped from outside the USA.

Get them from places after Rebate, just a while ago they had them at Costco, 4GB for $33.

Stay away from eBay, stay away from eBay, stay away from eBay.

Don't buy off of Ebay. I had purchased a couple early last year, then found out they were fakes. I emailed a couple of others that had purchased from the same seller, and turned out theirs were fake also. Fortunately, the seller refunded everyones money, to include shipping. They claimed they didn't realize they were selling fakes. I have no reason to doubt them, since they removed all there CF from ebay.

If you need something right away, run to a reputable store like Staples or even WalMart and get cards. I buy mine at Amazon or Adorama sometimes if I'm not in a hurry, but Costco has Ultra II's for not that much now.

Keep an eye out on Dealnews.com and spoofee.com
Every 2-3 days they seem to have deals on CF cards from someone..

new 2GB CF cards from known online sellers are not that much more then the 'deals' where you are not certain of what you might actually receive. I would rather pay 15% more to ensure I get the real thing than to save $4 only to get screwed.

And mind you I have been selling online for over 10-years. I by almost everything but food online now. We even buy our staples like laundry detergent to tooth paste to ?? online becuase we save so much and now with Amazon Prime who even needs Costco?

But just be skeptical of these deals. Often they can be genuine or fromt he exact same factory that makes the name brand. I used to own a computer networking company and got to know a few mfg's from China fairly well. I can tell ya that indeed a large number of the 'fakes' are actually the real deal and are just undisclosed production over-runs which were supposed to be destroyed, but also most are not. So you might think you are getting a warranty and what not but you aren't. So, unless you really know and trust the source, pass in favor of the name brand. BTW, it has been my experience that all of the name branded flash memory cards are plenty good for all but the most intensive use where speed is super critical. So something like an A-Data or what not card will do fine.

+1 on Staples... I buy 2gb CF's from them when they have a sale for about $25 - $30 each.

stay away from ebay. Right now, flash is at historic lows. buy sandisk with confidence at any real and proven sales channel.

Just got a high-speed 4GB for well under $50 on Amazon. I never even go near ebay, too much uncertainty with what you're buying.

And while Sandisk is probably the top brand, all of mine are Kingston Elite Pro's, and I've never had a problem. Would recommend them in a heartbeat.

There is a lot of junk out there. All it takes to make a counterfeit CF card is a label printer....

4GB Ultra II's are $39.99 at Costco and they constantly have a $8 coupon on them.

Agreed, you can find deals equal to those online, especially if you end up paying for shipping.

Today I picked up a SanDisk Extreme III (20MB/sec read/write) 2GB SD Card for $29. This weekend Radio Shack had SanDisk Cruiser 4GB USB Flash Drives on sale for $19.
