View Full Version : Using photoshop elements to make drawings

I wanted to draw a mock-up of my basement for it's future remodel. So on Photoshop Elements 4 for Mac I started drawing lines/rectangles and text. I didn't really know what I was doing and I have never learned how to use PE for anything other than simple photo editing. So, everytime I go to insert text next to an object, it creates a new layer. I would have much preferred that I did it all in one layer just to keep it simple. Plus I do not have any experience working with layers. But that's what it did and I didn't know how to change that. So I finally get all finished and I have something like 15 layers. One layer for the shapes/layout and the rest individual text layers for each object. So I know enough that I am supposed to flatten it when I am finished, but everytime I go to do that, the layer with all of my shapes/layout disappears. All the text is still there in it's spot, but the rest is gone. When I try to save without flattening, the same thing happens. I was trying to save as a gif.

Any advise would be helpful.

Try changing the order of the layers. Put the text layer under the shapes layer. Or just save as tiff.
