This is a macro shot I took recently. I am quite satisfied with the quality and composition of this picture and would be be glad to hear any comments/suggestions from the critics.

Picture taken by Canon G2, further specs available on the link.

Thank you.

The photo is fantastic. I think it needs a very small bit of sharpening but otherwise fantastic.

not so much a comment as a question. You used 50 iso as your exposure setting. Any particular reason? I would have been sorely tempted to use 200 or 400 so that i could either speed up my shutter speed and sharpen things a tiny bit, or choke down the aperture for a little more DoF. Maybe i'm not thinking clearly, because i'm still QUITE amateur, but mind explaining why you chose 50 iso. Any chance you took a similar shot with a different film setting so I could see visually the difference your choice made? Probably you haven't got one, but i'd love to see one on the off chance that you do.

Thank you for your post Big_Mac, the reason for choosing ISO 50 is :
1. The ISO settings I chose here are not intended for any co-relation with DOF or shutter speed.
2. Im shooting with Canon G2 which is a digital camera. The higher the ISO, more visible is the noise and pixelation on the picture.
3. I have compared taking some shots( other than this one) with all possible ISO settings on my camera, the noise/pixelation is not visible at ISO 50, but becomes prominent in settings higher than ISO 100...which leaves me with only two options ISO 50 or ISO 100.

I hope this answers your question.
Thank you.

Hi Shafique

I am impressed that this was taken with the G2. Don't get me wrong, I used to own a G2 but didn't get shots this close. You have the DOF perfect and agree that the ISO was correct at 50. I agree with Colin that it could do with minimal sharpening (if you have Photoshop 6 or 7, may I suggest you get Fred Miranda's CSPro sharpening action - these actions, although mainly meant for digital SLRs can be used for the G2 - I know, because I have used Fred's actions on an old G2 image and it worked perfectly).

Cheers
Sheila
