I love the mergs and the shovelers are just wild. Nice pics!

Wow, nice birds, especially the merganzer. I assume these were shot in the wild. So how'd you manage to get so close to the merganzer? Every time I tried getting close to one (this was last March), it would swim away from me so I never got a good close up of it.

The mergansers are very shy and are hard to get close to. I went out on a day when the pond was partialy frozen. This kept the mergansers closer to shore. The 400mm helped also.
