Played around with this one a little bit. C&C would be much appreciated. My PS skills are amature at best; so, I'm looking forward to learning anything new.

Too much vignetting IMO. I'm one of the first to add a bit to my photos, but it seems unecessary here in what would be a normally blue sky. Otherwise it seems nice

Honestly.. I kind of like the vingetting.. Maybe could lighten it up a bit but I think it is nice. Great pic!

I agree with moacur, the vignetting works out nicely for this shot, I'd try to bump up exposure a bit though.

how is vignetting done?

I would rather see the airplane "higher" or more centered in the vignetting.

Nice shot.

Hey everyone, thanks for the coments and suggestions!
I am definitely trying to add an artistic touch to this pic instead of the normal blue sky, thus the vignetted look. I'm not too sure that it works for me yet, but it's fun to play with. I just added an updated version to my original post and included some of the suggested ideas. I do agree that the plane needed to be higher and the reduced vignetting does seem a bit better.

Here's the shot with the normal background.

how is vignetting done?

I did it by choosing the lighting effects tool in the filters box (under render) and selected either the flashlight or spotlight style then expanded or compressed the sizing tool until the desired amount of light was centered on the subject. The result is a vignetted appearance.

In my second attempt, I also selected the area around the plane and applied a gaussian blur to help reduce the ringing in the darker areas. It doesn't completely eliminate them, but it does make them less noticeable.

Hope this helps!
