Post deleted. The method described would work for film cameras but not Digital Cameras. When you change a digital camera's ISO you also change the senor sensitvity. Sorry for posting before my second cup of coffee.

Another alternative is this

The free download will adjust FEC.

Or

http://revolution.cx/rcx/fecset.htm

The 300D will remember the FEC setting.

Both version work with my v1.1.1 firmware.

"[QUOTE=scottbergerphoto]I came across this, this morning and thought it might be helpful for Digital Rebel owners uncomfortable with a firmware hack..........."

Funnily enough I too came across an alternative to the firmware hack - its free at programmehttp://revolution.cx/rcx/fecset.htm.

Seemingly unlike every body else who has opted for the hack ,I have had trouble with the download and installation ( my post earlier today in this forum refers) so if I can't resolve it I might go for this software, as to have FEC is my particular wish.

Forget about the software FEC. IMHO it's completely useless. I don't set FEC to a certain value permanently and I wouldn't want to connect the camera with my computer EVERYTIME I want to change the setting. I shoot with flash, look at the histogram, change FEC if necessarty, and continue shooting.
BTW: I use the modified firmware since more than six months without ANY problem and use FEC, flash synch speed, and One Shot A LOT.
