Hello

This is the very first time I upload any photography for critiques... Would like to hear very honest comments about my photos...
Shot about 1500 photos.

From yesterday wedding:

Please as I said, try to be very honest and rigid about the critics.
And please, tell me, honestly: Do I have future on wedding photography? (I mean, am I going on the right way?)

Thanks!

John, I'm not a wedding photog, but hopefully I can offer some useful critique:

1. In general I really like your compositions. You have some captured some scenes in very unique ways, which is fantastic.

2. A couple of your images have very slightly tilted horizons that I'd prefer to see straightened.

3. A few of the images have a yellow cast (1, 6, 9, 16, 19). To me they don't look warm, they just look yellow.

4. It seems to me that a for a few of the images the black point is set too high, losing most of the shadow detail.

I really wish I had your creativity John, it makes up for any nitpicks I may have mentioned above. :)

Thank you so much, Bob. It's great to hear some critiques. For me they are priceless.
I took note of everything you wrote.

Good eye for details on the person and the shoes like in #8.

Great at capturing little moments like in #9.

#11 ... good eye in seeing a frame for that shot. Really sets it up well.

Overall great shots of the ceremony, but that's all that I see. Is that all you were there for? Portraits and formals are often the most difficult part because you need to direct and take charge and charm the guests. But you definitely have a photographic eye. Keep up the good work!

I like your style. A good and emotional wedding series has turned out. Thanks.
P.S. You go correct way by, in my modest opinion. ;)

These are great photos - I really can't fault your style. Would you mind sharing some of your methodology? For eg. lenses used, flash used?

Very nice job! (I'm glad you didn't close the thread) Yes, yellow cast and some of the photos look almost great, like when he dipped her, the expressions are almost there... But absolutely you have amazing talent. Keep it up!

yeah good shots nice composition.. you defo have a future....

the only comment I would make is that some of the shots look a tad 'snapshot'ish... and I don't mean that in a crude way (you know, head/shoulders straight on), while some are stunning and show a real flair and artisic eye..... to improve all you gotta do is make less of the former and more of the later :-) and you clearly have it in you.....

were are the formals...this is candid photojour types shots....but it really doesn't define your style. They are very well done.

I'm a Photojournalist :) Formals, are "money" shots. Not for showing at portfolio :)

I would say you indeed have a style. I looked at them asking myself "does this feel like the same person put this together?" Often, I think wedding sets today are eclectic, as the PJ guys portraits often tend to look very basic, and the portrait guys seem to produce candids that feel very snap-shottish.

I think you kinda nailed it. Although there are no formals here, your style shows through. You have a very contrasty, effective delivery, with lots of bright light and super clean whites. You aren't afraid to include a little dof in your shots, which I admire.

Would I hire you to shoot my wedding?

Yes.

You don't know how happy I'm to read your comment. I was going thru a crisis, which I wasn't sure if I'm a good photographer...

i like the compositions of the pictures u have talent. the only thing i saw is the iso grain in the pics im not shure if thats how you wanted it or a compression/website issue. but other than that. i would'nt mind hiring you.

Nice site...Great work, you are good and you do have your own style (good). At first I thought there was too high ISO, but it looks like you wanted it that way. You have the gear to shoot fast and I know you have a flash, so the any grain is YOUR STYLE. Whatever you do keep being creative / artistic that's what will make you (and your portfolio) stand out! IMO

The site looks very nice. The shots are good. I think you captured the event really well, taking many different guests and family shots. Emotion shots are good, too. Keep it up and thanks for sharing. I looked at about 40 of the shots and I think they were worth scrolling through.

Good use of available light. If you used a flash at all, I couldn't see it. My only concern would be big enlargements and how they would hold up for the couple. I would also like some straighter horizons across a few but there is little else to criticize; it is a good set.
