View Full Version : Hair on S5 lens

I noticed this weekend that there seems to be a hair or fiber in front of the lens of my S5. It seems to be in that anterior chamber between the front glass and the lens itself. I can't see how it got in there or how to get it out. Is there a simple way to remove it? It isn't showing up in my pictures, but with a week trip to Belize in a month, I would hate for it to move and ruin my pictures. Thanks for the help!

Send it in to canon. I'm sure they'll get it out for you. Unless the lens is somehow scratched, which isn't doesn't appear to beto my eye.

No the lens isn't scratched, I'm just perplexed as to how it got on there. I was thinking I'll have to send it to Canon, but I was sure it would take forever to get back :(

Based on most of the Canon service testimonials that I've read - especially for a straight forward cleaning job such as this - you may get it back within 7 days of sending it in! :)

No guarantees of course but more likely than not this should be your experience. With a trip on the horizon within a month, you should get it in ASAP.

Nah, I don't think it will take more than 5-7 days. Canon is pretty quick at fixing and returning cameras back to the owners. I wouldn't worry about that.

Yeah it is odd how thatactually got on there. I'm with you on that.

Well I spoke with Canon this morning and I am shipping it off tomorrow morning. I asked about the turn around time and he said 7-10 days with 2 day air from Fedex to bring it back. I'm glad that it will be back in time! Phew!

Thanks again for the help and for sharing the perplexion as how that got in there
