C and C welcomed, appreciated, and accepted. *Puts fingers over eyes and looks through them* Also, I know I don't have it marked, but edits are accepted.
I am heading off to Africa in a few weeks and will be the "official" photographer of the trip. I'm trying to get in as much practice as possible before I go, but I've been using an SLR for about, oh, 2 weeks now. This is from a Christian concert a couple of nights ago.

The guitar in # 1 looks great... more of the musician would help...
#3 has very interesting composition, it would look better if included in a large set of other pics, with more musicians with frontal face pics.

Yeah, after I posted these I noticed that I cut off his left hand in number 1. I wish I had just caught a different angle on it and included it.
My own critique to number 3... I wish I had caught more of the guitar and upped the f-stop a little so the faces were slightly clearer. Still blurry, but I think a little more definition would have been better.
I didn't get too many great front shots, unfortunately. Here are a couple:

I think your first three look well exposed and sharp.
A question -- was the fact that they are a christian band something that you were trying to communicate with your shots?

Not necessarily, just didn't know what to title it.
I did want to make the cross on his wrist stand out, however. That was the goal of the first shot.

I think that was you angle carolina. The fact that it was a Christian band was your goal. Highlight their clothing, the emotion of the singer, and even the crowd enjoy the praise and worship. That would have been my mission. You can do it. You understand exposure, atleast enough to pull this off. (just don't know if you know much about studio work or not.. that's all) Make sure to go in looking for a common thread, and not a hard drive full of pictures. You pics are good, but I'm sure you have much more in you to convey through your camera. Thinking about the sincerity of the people singing for God. Think about the passion they have. Not doing it for the money or the fame but to praise and worship. I'm writing a small essay, but this is what you want to think about the next go around. Don't sweat pixel peeping..(people do entirely too much of that.. I personally don't want to see another 100% crop!!! please), but what's your job. I had a great boss that would tell me that I didn't have anything to shoot, then don't shoot it. What are you trying to say with your camera? How are you using the elements involved to do that? What are the small details that will make people say "I never thought of that"? Composition and camera settings will be second nature after a while and your doing good job at it now.
