Thank you for looking and for the comments all. Yes, the building at the back at #2 is Grand Central, and this is looking down Park Avenue. The first photo is looking across Park Avenue, and the man is standing under the roadway that leads into Grand Central. It was raining that day, and I had a wet spot on my lens at Pic #2 (left side). I love shooting in inclement weather, the light is so dramatic.

The lens that I used for these is my trusty 17-40, this time on a 1DMk2. The FOV is gloriously wide, perfect for street photos, which allows me to use a rather unwieldy camera in the street.

Tom, Jennifer, other POTN'rs in the area, we gotta meet up soon :D

Like always... you've captured an amazing shot. I love the light that's hitting the guy in number 1 directly in the face as he looks up. Can't wait to go back to New York!

Normally I'm not a fan of selective color, but the powerful subtlety (oxymoron?) of the way you've used in the second posting has made me re-think my bias. Both images are well done and pull me through the frame into a place of feeling and ideas. Which, after all, is art - right?

Thanks for sharing...

Ted

Thanks for looking and the comment Ted! Actually this is global desaturation, not selective coloring, which I rarely do. I guess it looks that way since the color of the shirt was really bright that it stands out even at 57% desat.
