I'm travelling to the US from Australia next month and I'm wondering if I need to do anything else besides having adaptors to charge my camera batteries. Do I need to buy a power convertor?

I have a US-sold camera, and use the charger here (Brisbane) as-is with just the power point adapter.

Apparently they have some sort of transformer meaning you can use 110/240 V.

Check the nameplate of the chargers you have. The standard AC supply here in the USA is 120 volt single phase 60 Hz, with the parallel blade plug (HH). Many modern power supplies are already made for international use and are referred to as auto-switching power supplies, in that they can take a wide range of input voltages.

thanks for the tips. i'll go have a look tonight. my wife's xti is from america and my 40D is from malaysia which has the same power as australia. the thing is, i don't want to lug both chargers with us to singapore, then paris and then the US...

How big is the charger? Mine is like the size of a deck of cards. I'd bring both just to be on the safe side?

i might just have to do that, although i'd rather not cos we're going for almost 4 weeks and i want to travel as light as possible and not get weighed down by gear. i'm only taking 2 lenses along with the 40D and my Olympus XA2. my wife will be bringing her XTI with 2 lenses too...
