Moose on the loose

Hi all,
Just thought it might be interesting to post a few pics of moose on the loose, kinda like "man on the run" those of you that know of that song.

These were taken up here in the Great Land 1st Jan 05 with a Canon EOS 10D and Canon 24-70mm F2.8 L and Sigma 120-300mm F2.8EX and 1.4x tc respectively. The darker one was taken at about 1530 local and light fading really fast. I'm impressed the shot came out as good as it did. My intial thought was it was past the point of not worth messing with.

Good capture. Looks really cold there, the moose is shivering. I'll bet you were, too.

it's very nice to see moose .... at all



I'm wondering what the line is , going across through the first shot

thought it may be a path through the mountains at first

then it looked liked maybe the picture got cracked a little
(but being on a memory card that's hardly the case)

then I wondered was it wires ?

doubt it is any of those.

the scene must be a beautiful sight all over when seeing it full on

No it really wasn't that cold ironically enough. It was in the 20sF or -5C at the worst. The difficulty was holding the lens strady with very little light to work with and in the tight shot a 670mm effective lens.

Yes your last guess is correct, a power line. I realised it after the fact, but hopefully it doesn't detract too much from the pic. The real pic what I was seeing with my own eyes is well you'd have to see it yourself to understand. This is much like describing the Cliffs of Moher to someone in a pic. Everywhere I have been in Alaska is gorgeous! I can't get enough of it. This is truly a photogs dream! Yes I really like moose too. They are rather odd and goofy looking but that grin is something else. Perhaps in another pic I have such an example. I will look.
