Hey all.
This was my first official wedding as the 2nd shooter. I think they turned out pretty well...Some may be alittle dark. I need to shoot to the right more...

Venue was "ok," bride and groom very easy to work with. However, their families were a different stories, and took a lot of control away from the hired photogs for family photos and whatnot. Again, that's a function of being an noob at this.
Let me know what you all think...and by all means, critique away. I have another wedding in october as the primary shooter, and I'm scared sh*tless...

For your detail shots, get up in there a little more.
#2 - the flower looks a little lifeless and it really does not dominate the photo
#3 - I'm not sure exactly what it is. It is very difficult to tell.
#4 - is more of what I was referring to about getting up in the subject. It's a little heavy on the left side with the empty space.
#7 - what's going on here?
#13 - less pillow, more ring and flower
#16 - I can't read the text even though you are focusing on it. Move the pen if you have to so it works for you photo. Good conversion. A lot of space wasted though when you could focus on text or use the flowers more for instance. Take a higher angle if you have to.
#17- your answer to 16. Remember you can move stuff a little bit. So combine some of the elements in 16 with 17 and you have a perfect photo. :)
#19 - looks a little soft.Or very shallow DOF, but try to get the face if you aren't going to focus on the ring in the pillow.
#26 - I'd take it out. The couple does not look that sharp in the photo. Too many distractions. 27/28 much much better.
#29/30/31 - needs some fill flash in the future in that situation (try to use the dodge tool to bring out some highlights and midtones).
32 - that dark leaf is a little distracting.
33 - a little too dark
38- another example where you want to move in. The flower is barely in focus and the thing with bow is hard to make out.
39/40 - you need to put the couples hands more on the same plan, or pull the husband's hand back because it gets in the way of the wife's hand and distracts.
Definitely a good start. Once you fix these small nit picks in the future you'll have it down good.

Awesome job! I love the detail shots! Looks like you need to promote yourself to MAIN shooter!

WONDERFUL advice! Those are exactly the things I need to hear, C&C about composition and placement of things. Hopefully I'll remember this thread come October when i'm the Main shooter!
Thanks to all for the great and flattering comments! :)

I just had to comment that they are beautiful, and that I love how your pictures focus on the small details of the wedding. I know for my wedding that was some of the most important pictures (besides me and the groom). I know the bride will appreciate your attention to detail.
