My first architecture shots.

Here is my first attempt at shooting some building details. I snapped these in D.C. during my first day out with my 10D. Please tell me what you think.

it's a nice building.
very large

the arch could be a little less prominent
though I think you may have been better off standing to the left (?) of the building and get the bottom of it in as I see a lot of windows down below the picture line and I see cranes where building is going on at the far end

there's a lot to think of when taking a photograph to do a building like this justice

maybe take a few more shots from different angles


as you say it's a first shot like it why don't you start with a smaller and more detailed building

I like the first shot better. Good sun angle to accentuate the details in the limestone carvings. I'd rather not see the arch in the second shot and the construction activity at the far end is distracting. Great first shots. Keep at it - lots to shoot in DC. :)

Thanks for the replies!

I wanted to get more of the building in the shot, but there was a lot of "stuff" on the sidewalk and the side of the street. Traffic cones, and junk from the construction that unfortunately you can see at the end of the building in the pic. I have some more shots form that day in DC but those are the two centered around the architecture. Thx.
