Has anybody got any experience of this website http://www.nowpublic.com/ ?

I've been approached by someone via my Flickr site to use one of my images to illustrate a story.

The site is basically a 'citizen journalism' thing which in my mind equates to 'we want to use your stuff but not pay you while we make a fat profit'. For that reason alone I would not consider it but they do apparently have a close relationship with The Associated Press so I suppose there is a billion to one chance that they might notice me.

The other thing is it doesn't appear to be a rights grab as I have the impression that they follow the same rules as Flickr regarding copyright. So the big question I suppose is has anybody submitted work to them and is it worth it for the exposure or is it just the equivalent of a worthless byline?

1. they don't link back to your flickr account
2. they make you sign up for a nowpublic.com account

So it is a traffic grab... if it were an altrustic journalism service without motives to expand their email lists virally and keep the traffic internal, they wouldn't do those two things.

There's nothing in it for you.

They just want content for nothing.
