View Full Version : Poppy Paintings

I took a few shots of an isoltaed stand of poppies down on the docklands area on the outskirts of Preston today, and I thought that as simple images, they lacked a little oomph.

So I thought I would have a play around with a few filters and such and see if I could come up with something a little more dynamic.

I uses an action called "Erick N Watercolour" by a chap called Erick Nguyen which gave me the paint effect, and then added a texture layer which I colourised and changed the saturation levels and hues to try and match the poppy image. A layer selection on the white background was coloured and blended which was then also given a hefty motion blur filter.

I think they turned out better than the originals, so I hope you all agree.

C&C as always accepted.

the poppies are such gentle type of flowers
they are very lovely in your pictures

in the second picture I think the too dark top may be best cropped off (?)

I enjoy the impressionistic feel of these and like the effects you put on them. Would it be okay to post one of the original images to see the comparison?

That is way cool. Most of the time "painter" FX in PS leave me cold, but these are really nice. Excellent compositions.

Thank you for sharing the originals. Great job on the effects. I could see doing that same thing for grapes on the vine or really any other lovely fruits and flowers.
