Everyone who remembers me knows I haven't really posted anything in a year, so I'm very out of practice. Well I thought I'd get some shots today and I caught this guy (who often lingers on my window). I always called this bug a stickbug growing up, if you know the real name let me know.

The pictures are OOF cause I was shaking like crazy and I never caught a good picture of him cause he was moving the whole time trying to escape my flash of doom.

ok,now look at this picture and imagine a 50 year old, heavy smoking women from Hollywood saying something like, "Hey there, Toots, ~cough cough~ wanna take a picture of me?"

The pictures aren't great, but my first time shooting macro in a year I figured I'd atless get an ID on this guy by posting them.

Pretty good- that really is a stick insect. Always think long thin bugs like this are very hard to shoot

Oh yeah, he was very hard to shoot. He wouldn't stop moving, wasn't really photographer-friendly. I also was trying to dodge bushes and everytime I lined up a shot it was in a different spot so I had to change my exposure settings. Thanks for the comment.

Nice catch. I thought it was a mantis too because of the mantis like claws :D

I think it's the same family, these guys disguise themselves as sticks and it's hard to actually see them when they're sitting still in areas with lots of small twigs.
