This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.
Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.
The game will last 48hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.
The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.
You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.
Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.
If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read (Before and After #81.)
This is all about having fun so have at it!!!
Ending time: July 11th 10pm. Be there or be square:grin:

I am not very good at doing major changes, so I have just done a few touchups, rotating the image slightly, recolouring the sky, adding some photo filters, lightening some of the shadows on the face and doing a bit of selective blurring.
Interested to see how someone more skilled might do it!

Remember, bugs are my thing so if I Miley Cyrus-ed it up too much, blame the media
*Opened in ACR and fixed the exposure/saturation/contrast to start at a "standard"
*Eyes (9 layers): Progressively increased the contrast, hue, and saturation of the iris. I blended most layers on Lighter Color. Separately I used levels and also replaced color to whiten the sclera.
*Removed the mark on the left arm
*Lips (3 layers): Levels, contrast, hue/saturation, varied blending and opacity
*Hair (2 layers): Altered the hue and saturation to bring out the blond. Blended with darken. And the graphics geniuses would cry knowing I painted in each stand of hair.
*Background (3 layers): Darkened with levels, Nik Reflector effect, contrast
*Skin: Using 2 layers of gaussian blur I smoothed the skin gently being careful to preserve the detail in the hair, eyebrows, eyes, and lips.
*Cropped - Tried cloning out the garbage can, but I'm not a miracle worker.

Back for another go. :)
- removed the stray Hairs with cloning, smudging and a lot of tedious work
- added layer which is blurred with a gaussian blur after having done a black and white conversion on it. Mask is used so that only background shows
- cloned out the garbage can (was just about to submit it and it stuck out like a sore thumb)
- Added eye "pop" layer and just made them a little more blue
- Slight adjustment of contrast curve
- lightly softened the focus

I just wanted to add that this is my youngest daughter; Sarah. She was thrilled I chose a photo I took of her. :)

Here are a couple of workups...
changed the dress, hair, skin coloring in a couple of clicks using viveza plugin... (please notice the reflecting of the dress on the trash can)

working from my edit above I added a Midnight filter from NIK Color Efex Pro

HaHa, Justin!
Here's my edit:
Cropped.
Used levels and contrast and saturation to get the colors I liked.
Put in a blue sky and clouds over the other sky, building, far tree & railing.
Added a filter to make it look like a painting...then erased that from her face so it would still be clear. (Added just a little noise reduction to smooth it somewhat.)
Dodged the eyes a little bit.
Added the border.

OK, beautiful daughter so I decided to put her in a pink dress in an English garden (this garden is actually just outside Windsor Castle):
1. Change dress color to pink & then boost saturation slightly.
2. Adjust scale of photo to match scale of garden.
3. Add your daughter to garden via layer mask.
4. Soften daughter slightly via GB @ 1 pixel then reveal @ 65% opacity.
5. Sharpen waterfalls slightly via USM 50%;1;1
6. Reveal portions of BG through transparent portions of dress to correct mask reveal
7. Levels adjustment.

I am soooo not good at portraits...which is a good enough excuse to give it a go I guess...:)
- Duplicated image
- Removed background from one image
- Created a Radial Blur for background
- Added some Saturation and played with levels a little
- A little USM for the foreground
- Merged layers
- Blended in the original image about 25%
- Vignette
- Border

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum and this is my first try on one of these contests. I saw this girl as an old soul with a spirit quality about her so here's my entry.

Here's a nicer one. I know it won't count, but I just wanted to do a cute one too
Let's see...
extracted the original bg
put in a layer with the garden
fixed the dark circles under the eyes with clone and blur
added some color to cheeks and lips with paintbrush
a bit of dodging
did a bit of light correction

Sorry I'm a little late calling the winner. After discussing it with my daughter & my husband we have made a decision. I wanted Sarah's input. There were several we really liked a lot. There is some wonderful talent. However, as creepy as it is, we have chosen Christine Mitchell's first submission; the ghostly Sarah. We all thought it was very creative and it took it to a whole other level, and it got a very strong reaction out of us all. So congratulations! Thank you to everyone. Just for fun I am posting the two edits I did before I posted the photo here.

... Is there going to be another??
This is the best thread on the furum, and it just can't die !!! I'll PM both Christine Mitchell and LuckyStar08 to see what's going on. ... If there's no reply by 12pm (noon) EST today, then I suggest one of the remaining participants of B&F # 80 post a picture to revive the thread. ... We can choose whoever's birthday is closest to today (mine's a long way off in November, so I doubt it would be me).
But I'll PM the two of them right now and see if we get a response.
_____
OK, PM's sent. ... Let's wait & see. If we don't here in about an hour, then let's see who's birthday is closest to today, and by 2pm EST we can decide who should post the next one.
