Rollerblading from last weekend

Here are two shots I got last weekend while skating in sacramento. Lit with 2 Alienbee 800's and a sunpak 544. all at full or 1/2 power. let me know what you think.

#1 is really flat, too much ambient. #2 is good.

The skater is a bit small in the shots IMO, and there's too much else going on to really make him stand out, this in more the case in the 2nd one. Surely he should be wearing wrist guards though? Many many moons ago when I used to strap on the skates the wrists were the first things you'd break.
