I suggest getting a flickr.com acount.... you can upload the photos full size and have the option of linking them to the forum at many other small sizes.... I love using flickr now, they also have some great photo groups on there as well...
lens wise a good old fisheye is always good to have in your bag of tricks. the Tokina 10-17mm is very popular with skate photography.... I use a sigma 8mm and it seems to do fine.... anyway good luck and have fun

Don't use too much fish or you will get addicted (like me). Long lens shots feel so much more rewarding to me than good fisheye shots. For these vert ramp shots, try to include more of the deck that you are standing on, or at least the coping, so that the viewer has a reference point as to where the skater is coming from. You are very blessed to have such a sick vert ramp near you. What YMCA is that? Mission Valley?
If you ever need your fix for some GREAT vert skating and a tremendous ramp, hit up the Encinitas Y. Great stuff there.
Also if you haven't taken up skateboarding yet, I suggest you do. Skaters make better skate photographers.

I think your timing is very good... like Joe said show some deck at least the coping.... also look into an off camera flash... the vert ramp deck isnt the best place for flash stands, for this type of skate session I use an off camera flash cord and hold the camera in one hand and the flash in the other... I also use this setup for high action contests and jams... here is a shot during a contest using this setup
