And I would like some tips-help on how to blend the color on the face to make it all one tone. can anyone tell me how to go about doing something like that. Like on this photo the skin tone is uneven. I would like to blend it all the same have one color tone on face and neck. I would appreciate any help on this.

I have like red blemishes and brown age spots and would like to try and correct this in Photoshop CS...Thanks

Familiarize yourself with the Colour Replacement Tool (press J 3 times)

Also - Healing Brush tool.

Hi Gail!

Very nice self-portrait :)

Dealing with blotchiness caused by lighting or anything else can be accomplished using either the paintbrush or airbrush tool ( I prefer the airbrush tool), like so:

Using the eyedropper, sample the skin-tone somewhere where it's color is pleasing (this may take a few attempts, as the selected color often appears too dark - but it's not)

Then select the Airbrush tool, and CHANGE the MODE to COLOR (it's way down near the bottom of the mode drop-down list). Start with the airbrush pressure around 30-40%. You can up it if it's not giving you enough of an effect.

Select an appropriate brush size, and Airbrush away! In color mode, it doesn't "paint over" or change shading, texture, etc,. - it just "re-colors" the skin... or anything else you pass over, so watch those lips, eyebrows, etc!

May take a bit of experimenting with the color selecting, but that's what ctrl-Z if for :) In the example below I sampled off of your forehead just over the inside end of your right eyebrow, after trying a few other selected colors.

I Hope you don't mind, here's a QUICK & DIRTY copy of your image using this technique (although none too carefully around the edges, and I see I missed some areas). If you mind let me know and I can remove it

You can also achieve similar effects using the HUE mode.

A little blush can be added back by selecting the color RED, using the airbrush again in color mode after turning down the pressure to about 5-7%

If you're looking to correct things like dark areas of skin, try using the same technique with the airbrush in LUMINOSITY mode, again at a low pressure.

Lastly, color balance is a tad off.. here's an excellent article entitled "Even a colorblind person can color-correct a photo (http://www.nicholsonprints.com/Articles/colorblind.htm)" by Chris Nicholson. I use a similar method, but often ignore adjusting for grey unless it's obviously necessary.

Hope it helps!

congrats on the Wacom tablet! I'm sure you'll love it, I've found mine invaluable at times... MUCH quicker and easier than a mouse, and pressure sensitivity...:mrgreen:
