Well I thought I would compare my two cameras. Both where taken in macro, highest settings, and no flash. Comments and comparisions welcome.

The Kodak is a lot easier to use and upload and post. Though it doesn't "do" macro. I can only get within like 3-5 inches or it wont focus.

Color is a big difference. just look

The Kodak has a narrow focus area. where the Canon has almost the whole bill in focus.

I think the sharpness goes to the Kodak though only in areas. Maybe the Canon is picking up the bleed of the ink on paper?

I'm still in the process of learning, but I have to admit that I'm surprised how in some of my pictures I've taken, how far off the color is comparing the RAW image to the camera's jpeg file. This isn't a major hurdle of course, what with PP tweaking, but I do find that I will have to refer to the jpeg version sometimes just so my dialing-in is representitive, accounting for some poetic licence.

Looking at Hamilton's eye pupil in the 100% crop, it seems to me that the Canon has done the better job catching the detail.

Otherwise, these comparisons of camera to camera can drive someone nuts, if they take everything to heart. It's fun to see the difference, but I'm not going to let the results sway me from the G9. A perfect G10...well, then maybe.

I'm still processing the details shared in the DSLR user, G9 thread posted earlier.

right, I am not trying to sway anyone any directions I was just wanting to see the difference and thought I would share. Now with the color of my RAW files have been great. I was surprised on how "bleached" the Kodak was with the natural light. I have always known Kodaks to have great color.

Auto white balance, custom setting based on measurement or choice of white balance in the menu?

come to think of it the Canon I always have on manuel mode, and the Kodak was on Macro with auto everything else.
