Hi guys,

I just bought IXUS 860IS, I knew that IXUS 860IS can ajust manually the shutter to slower speed like 1.3, 1.6 ans so on...but not faster than 1 sec

spec:
shutter speed: 15~1/1600 sec

1. how to do manual setting for faster shutter speed? can 860IS do this?
2. what is manual mode setting when I shooting in night scene?
exposure compensation -2...0...+2 : ??
ISO: if I set to ISO 200
shutter speed...: ??

thanks.

The following is from a review found at http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews_canon_digital_ixus_860_is.php
The Canon Digital IXUS 860 IS is purely a point and shoot camera with absolutely no control over aperture or shutter speed.
AFAIK, none of the current or recent ixus models permit the user to directly fiddle with shutter speeds or apertures. The cameras are primarily geared toward point 'n' shoot users who aren't likely to explore traditional methods of control. You can, however, exercise some influence by manually adjusting the ISO upwards to obtain faster shutter speeds and/or smaller apertures. Depending upon lighting conditions, those two values will, unfortunately, change in concert with one another. That is, if you were getting, say, 1/1000 & f5.6 @ ISO 100, goosing the ISO up to 200 might yield something like 1/1500 & f6.3.

you most definitely CAN manually adjust the shutter speed to anything you like by manually overriding the default shutter speeds with CHDK - http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_in_Brief . Works great with my sd870is
