Has anyone done this yet - converted their G9 to a clear glass sensor cover and then used cut filters to select what they want to shoot with a travel adapter? I have been thinking about it. I had Lifepixil convert my 20D to Black and white IR, and I must say I am a little dissappointed. :( The shots are good but I have to dial in +2 on the meter constantly and then do the old film type of estimation of the amount of IR. I mostly now shoot it on manual. I understand that cameras such as the G9 and other "P&S" EVF type cameras take their metering right off the sensor output instead of through a separate meter sensor therefore there really is not any compensation or guessing needed for IR or UV.
Back to converting a G9; it seems that this would make the perfect travel camera for an international traveler like me. Just carry UV Pass, UV-IR cut, and a IR filter and just by changing filters one could shoot the UV, visable light, or IR - full light spectrum. Not a big package at all for travel.
So has anyone done this? When a G10 comes out I just might do it to my G9. Who knows, might turn out to be the ideal travel package.
