My first try of portrait photography.
Let me know what you think. What I did right and what I did wrong.

I was going to say I like #2 better, but than what happened to her pupils? I like the change of perspective, but the lack of the pupils being fully shown is odd.
I do like the composition in #1, but the B&W conversion isn't doing anything for the photo. Maybe if it was a little darker, or softer it that would do it.

your focus is off and your depth of field is too narrow, even for the effect you're going for (i hope).

#1: I'm not really sure what to say, but the portrait doesn't have the 'pop'.
#2: Looks somewhat like a MySpaceish picture. I agree with aram in regards to the pupils.
Next time, try stopping down a wee bit to get more DOF.
Keep trying! The great thing about digital photography is that you can shoot all you want and simply delete the pictures you don't like :)

I like this shot despite my lack of interrest for B&W photography.
I like the composition despite the crop.
I like the use of DOF. I favor this use of DOF over the radically cropped portrait attempts that have 1/2 the face entirely cropped off.

Caricatures are fun, but not without permission from the subject. Hope you have her approval.
