Hi ebibadi!

I've been scouring through this forum but couldn't find this information. I want to get a G9 because of its movie mode as i don't want to lug a videocam for my coming eurotrip. The same reason why the dslrs are not coming with me.

A recent trip to Venice with bricks in one shoulder bag was less than romantic for me and wifey :D

So is it possible to reord videos with a converter on? like a fisheye.

Btw, I'm planning to get a G9 and pimp it up with a .22 or .25x, and a decent .5 or .7x.

I will also be getting an external viewfinder and if need be a decent flash. I sold my speedlites *smacks head* and left with a Sigma DG super 500. :(

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Yes, you can shoot video with a converter lens on. You cannot optically zoom while shooting video. The focus and exposure are fixed when you half-press, then on full-press of shutter button the video begins.

You should turn off image stabilization when not using the Canon tele or wide angle lenses. There is an option in the menu settings to let the G9 know which Canon lens you using, and it will adjust the IS operation for it. For non-Canon lenses, you are advised to turn off IS, based on discussions I've read.

The external lenses will block most of your view through the optical view finder, and will also block flash light from the on board flash.

I assume you realize using an external viewfinder attached to the hotshoe will prevent use of an external flash on the same hotshoe, since there is no PC flash connection port.

Thanks for the info dennis! answered all my questions :)

im expecting to get non-canon lenses since the canon one only comes in .75 which for me is not that useful when travelling and wanting to take self portraits of me and the missus with backgrounds...say..like the colosseum and eiffel and such. I'm planning to get the Opteka's since the Raynox doesn't have that wide of a lens. The knock-off Chinese made ones are cheap but i wonder if the glass does nasty things on the photos.

i doubt i will use the flash much because im not much of a night photo taker. and yes i know the lack of a PC port which is unfortunate. i wud have to settle with the LCD since using flash most likely means dark scenarios where the LCD would be more visible.
