Its a minor thing, but I've seen a few occasions where people are resurrecting old threads for whatever reason. This is fine, of course. I've done it myself. But, once the thread is resurrected, people begin responding to the original post like its brand-new.

Is there a way to increase the font for the "posted on" date to make it more obvious that the thread started a while back?

I bring this up as we're having another round of "welcome aboard, Cricket" posts in the NGOTB thread. Nothing bad yet, but I fear a repeat of the last round of posts. :)

I agree that something should be done. It's awfully hard not to add another "Welcome aboard, Cricket!!!" to the thread, maybe we can make it reach 10 pages by week's end.

But seriously, perhaps something could be coded so that posts "lock" after a certain period of time... say a week. I can't imagine that this would pose any problems for anybody or any topic.

For the time being, especially on the really old threads, we could put [Old Thread] in the title, or something similar. I agree that Cricket has gotten a suffiecient welcome by this time.

She certainly got a bigger welcome than I did! Not that I'm jealous or anything. :D :D

Seriously, the example was one of many. Nothing wrong with posting in an old thread. Sometimes, they need resurrection and further discussion. What I was thinking about was simply making it more obvious as to the date of the original thread.

I saw the same thing in the "marketplace" last week - people responding to an old ad that was 2 or 3 weeks old. I don't think anybody noticed that they were offering to buy something that had probably long since been sold.
