Hi everyone

I been using my G9 for the last few weeks, it works great most of the time
but occasianly when trying to preview images or videos on the camera they show up with unidentified image error or if its a video sometimes stops and shows a yellow question mark, or just freezes half way through.

I tried formating my SD card many times, am using Sandisk III 2g

Also last night i started having another problem, i took a picture with shutter priority for few seconds in a dark room, and turned out looking like this

photo seems broken also shows some sort of distortion going sideways
What can this be? i hope its not a faulty camera, please tell me it can be fixed!!!

I've had similar nightmares with all my cameras using Sandisk cards.....
I now only use Lexar Pro cards and never have a problem.....

Sandisk cards are the most faked card on the market at the moment, so it could be the card at fault, might be genuine, might not... hard to tell for sure..

Of course it could be the actual G9 with an internal error corrupting the card, although for your sake I hope its the card.

Sounds like Sandisk seem to be having a few problems of late, ive read quite a few issues regarding their cards, goes to show everyone thinks they must be the best because of their good advertising but its not always the case.

In my 5D I use "Integral i-Pro 4Gb" Cards, had them for years & never caused ANY problems, they may not be as fast as the Sandisc, but I take reliability over speed anyday, especially when it comes to images that cant be got again.

Before buying a new card why not take a few pictures with the MMC card that usually comes with the G9 ? That will help you to isolate the proplem quickly, and at no cost.

Yea thats the tricky part though, the reason i got this Sandisk memory card is because i was having this problem with my 2 other memory cards, one is Adata 4G and other Panasonic 2G. So then i decided to buy this high speed Sandisk III to see if it will make any diffrence, and to my dissapointment it didn't.

90% of the time all works fine, it takes great pictures, but occasinly spits out a few stuffed up ones like the one i posted a link to. Also when trying to preview pictures on the camera comes up with "Image Unidentified" very often, sometimes even for those that show up just fine on the comptuer.

Am not sure what to do, am hoping its some sort of Firmware driveres problem, the one that can be fixed with a firmware update if they release one sometime soon. If not that then i donno, but i think its diffently something to do with the comunication bridge between camera and memory card.

I was in the same boat when I bought a 2GB sandisk card. Images were half there and half blue. Turned out it was a fake card. I found this forum that way. Genuine Sandisk cards have never given me a problem.

After accidentally purchasing a fake Sandisk CF card on eBay, I learned that the fakes do not have the Serial Number printed in white on the edge of the card. Not sure if the fakers have started doing this though.

Seems to me that if you are having the same problem with a variety of cards, it is probably the camera that is the issue and not the cards. If your camera is still under warranty, you should take it in and see if the problem can be addressed.

I would be very suprised and extremly dissapointed if a 50 dollar card bought from local camera shop is fake, but yea you never know now days.
