Rule of thumb for framing/adding a boarder?

I was wondering if theres any rule of thumb for adding a boarder to my images? I mostly just post on line and such so Im no concerned with any print work, just looking for some tips on how to make my pics pop a little more. TIA

Do a search for Mikes Framer ... or a search for photoshop borders and I'm sure you'll find some good info. Mike's Framer is very good and worth the small amount of money.
