I have a dilemma I hope you can help me with. I bought a tripod, Velbon 7000 on e-bay. The quick release plate is missing and I can't attach my camera without it. (I know I can buy it for about $8) that is not the point. The seller claims it did not have a plate and that her camera is "modern" and just slides right on without the plate. Does this make sense to you? It is not about the money, it is the principal of the thing. I am a newbie but everything I have researched indicates that the plate should have been on the tripod. She claims she has used it for three years without a quick release platform. I know that there are some really knowledgable people here and you will know the answer.

Thank You
Char

You are being ripped off :(

Of course there was a plate and of course a camera needs a plate to be affixed to the tripod. :(

There is a possibilty that the seller just has no clue.. but I doubt it.

As you said, perhaps the seller has no clue...
Perhaps someone (the vendor where she bought the cam and tripod perhaps) attached the plate to the camera without telling her that it's an accessory and not part of the cam and now she thinks she has some modern camera which has this built-in...

It's hard to tell if the seller is naive, devious, or conveniently stupid. Without a QR plate, you've just bought a coat rack. I'd sure go after it.

thanks for all the responses. I have sent the seller a link to this post. Also sent to ebay customer service.

Tripods must be made differently than they were when I bought mine. The head screws on to the tripod, and a mounting screw goes into the hold on the bottom of my camera. I have a small QR device I can use, but it isn't required.

Well guys I asked and included links to this thread. No response. I filed a complaint with ebay and also sent link to this thread. Still waiting to hear from them. Like I said, the plate only costs about nine or ten bucks but it is the principal that bugs me. I can't stand for anyone to think they took advantage of me. As my late grandmother used to say, It is really "stickin in my crawl". LOL

Thanks for all the resonse and support.

Hi

This is the quick release plate that should have come with the tripod. Good luck
