A day of metal working

Hi, new to this forum, been lurking for some time, I recently purchased a canon Rebel XTI it is my introduction to photography, This was the second time I used it , and I was just taking some pictures of what me and my friends where doing. I am still super new to this and trying to figure out the camera, and what it can and can not do. Pictures 3, 4, and 7 could not have possibly been any brighter, it was pretty much the brightest part of the day. The rest where taken under a bit of shade. I am open to all criticism, Thanks in advance.
