So I'm down the shore for the day to make images. I left the Leica home and just have the G9 with me. I made around 15 images and now the camera is dead. Changed batteries, nada nothing...any ideas?
Is there a reset or something to kick start it again...
Great day, beautiful light and no camera...

There might be a way to reset it, am not aware of one but you can try just removing the battery for 10min or so then put it back in. That might do a partial reset of the operating memory. Also try starting it with no memory card.

Thanks, I've done all that. I am in the process of starting a claim with Canon. I can't find my receipt for the purchase. I expect a hard time and would be suprised if they do anything positive at all...I will update the thread as info becomes available...shooter

Just got off the phone with Canon service. It seems that this is the most common Problem with the G9. Something with the power supply.
The camera goes to them today and should be back in less than 3 weeks.
Now, it's wait and see...

Did you have a problem not having a reciept?

As it turns out, the dealer will provide me with a receipt. Canon just asked me to explain why I don't have one....simple, I lost it....so it doesn't appear to be an issue....

You have a good dealer, in that case :)

Camera is being shipped 2nd day to Canon tomorrow by UPS. I should have an idea what's going on by weeks end....I am not enclosing a receipt...but left info if Canon needs one....My dealer will provide the necessary info...

Yikes, that's never a good thing to hear. It's the most common issue, but wonder how often it happens?

G9 came home today. I'm at work and will do a follow up on this thread after I see the camera.
So far, Canon has been great.

I would hate to buy a camera with a known problem, only because of the out of warranty costs.

Allrighty...
G9 is home and all is well. Canon did a bang up job as I got her back in 1 week. They did the repair,(power supply) and cleaned and lubed her up. They even polished the LCD screen and that was not a requested repair.
I'm a happy camper....
Canon, Thanks alot....shooter

Thats good :)
btw what happens if you have international warranty, mine was shipped from japan so it came with what i think is a warranty card, but its all in japanese, so does that mean the only way to fix it is to ship it back to japan or it can be used in any country? Am in Australia btw.

I would check with Canon. If you bought the camera from an authorized dealer, it should be ok.
