Finally managed to find some time to piece together a few from Sunday, after almost drowning from the rain.. Camera still appears to be working

Nothing too creative this time, as it was extremely busy at Luffields A terrace, couldn't move anywhere, and had heads, hands, phones, and umbrellas to deal with!

A pan of Hamilton as he's winning the race by over 1 minute (more hands, as with a lot of other wasted shots)

Great series. I am wondering about the 'two finns' photo, the wheel -front left tire- there seems to be what, a loose something there?.. [Edit: After looking at the pics some more, it seems to be some permanent fixture, the line across part of the 'hubcap'?.]

I also like the photo before it, you can see the drops hitting the asphalt.

Thanks for sharing.

Great set. That one of Webber with the dark clouds overhead tells a lot and is a great pan.

I think they're brake ducts or something similar.. haven't really been following f1 latey..

OP. Great shots! Colours in #6 are awesome.

Thanks for the comments, also put another shot online of an interesting subject in the F1 Village,

As for the Ferrari and the front wheel - isn't that the new wheel cover for aerodynamic aides? But makes tyre changing slightly harder.

Thanks for appreciating number 6,

Took some similar ones (with 24-105) plus ND grad filter,

Warren, every photo on your site, I LOVE. The red arrows shot is brilliant even with the rubbish weather.

Glad you went since the photos are great to look back at!

Hi there!

Great set!

The Webber pic caught me when browsing. Great panning and the filter effect adds some interesting colors, without hiding the fact that the weather was cr*p, I just like it!

Note for myself: experiment filters with cars as well ;)

Awesome shots mate, would love to see if even the pros got any as good as some of these. The ND shots are my favourite, especially this one:

the line is because the wheel nut actually holds part of the duct so obviously needs to come with the nut,
but some of the duct is left and stays on the wheels.
brilliant pictures really love the webber shot!!

Thanks Mitesh - with the Red Arrows, for about 1 min, some soft diffused light came through the clouds, lighting up the aircraft. The rest were rather rubbish

We need to catch up soon again for a London walk around

Likewise, hence I'm up in Newcastle at the moment, and should be leaving for Lake District soon ;)
Only an overnight trip somewhere, and then down in Suffolk Thursday to Sunday
And finally The Dark Knight red carpet premiere event in Leicester Square on Monday.

Sadly back to work on Tuesday 22nd :p

Loving your recent work mate. The one of Webber does it for me as it shows it as part of a scene and not just a race car on a circuit somewhere. You can tell it's Silverstone which is sometimes quite hard to show there (apart from the rain...)

These make me want to put my camera on ebay!

I was at the GP and left my gear in the car as I didn't think it was worth lugging around due to the weather and amount of fencing around the circuit.

Your 1st pic, Alonso? really conveys the atmosphere of the race and with the pic of Webber really sums up the day.

I didn't think it would be possible to get these sort of images without being trackside, the recent glut of testing photo's shows Silverstone isn't easy behind the fence.

Without sounding like you've paid me, it's great to see something different and inspirational.

Nice set Wazza.

You know I'm more partial to the motion shots, so the first shot and that shot of Webber look great to me.

What annoys me about shooting Motorsport in NZ is the lack of good backgrounds (and crowds) to shoot against. Take the webber shot for example, with crappy tyres in the background and empty stands, it'd be a different shot. That's half the reason I enjoyed shooting the A1 at Taupo this year - at least (most of the time) there were nice backdrops to showcase your panning abilities.

Alas, at Manfeild (for example) you get shoddy buildings and old bunches of tyres.

Nice work Wazza. Hope you enjoyed the event.

Excellent shots Wazza...glad to see someone else in Newcastle too...

As for the car and the left wheel, asI believe, the rules stipulate that you cannot have any bodywork protruding any further than the outer edge of the tyre (so no james bond gadgets). Also if there is any bodywork, then it has to be a fixture of the car, and non-movable. Thus the teams have exploited this (if you look at cars from a season or two ago) that the metallic wheel does go in quite a fair bit, which would then create a bit of turbulence - so the solution was to make a smooth surface for the air to flow around the wheel smoothly, creating less drag. The line is the furthest you could get the immovable part to stick out creating a tiny bit of downforce and to help "direct" the airflow around too. The cooling ducts for the brakes are on the insides of the tyres, and the exit for them are on the outside (hence the little gaps you see towards the bottom regions). I am pretty sure it is, and if it isn't anyone else to enlighten us?
