Hi all-

I have an old HP Photosmart 1218. I'm looking at upgrading this printer, probably to a Canon PIXMA. I haven't bought a printer in so long, that I have no clue what to be looking for. I print all sizes up to 8x10 for albums/frames for family/friends.

Do any of you know why the 5000 is more expensive than the 6000, considering that the 6000 uses 6 inks, compared to the 5 used by the 5000?

Any recommendations? I know they do borderless 4x6. Do they do borderless 8x10?

Thanks, ahead of time, for your help!

Mark,
Both printers will do borderless up to 81/2 x 11. The 5000 has a higher res thnt the 6000 and uses a smaller ink drop thus the higher price. I've seen the output from both and it is very hard to see the difference. IMHOP I'd go for the 6000 with the extra color ink.

Thanks, Ian . . . I guess I'll eventually go out to a store to compare outputs from the two.

Not much help, but I just got a 5000 and I am very impressed so far.

I have the 5000 and the prints are great. I have printed many photo's and still used very little ink. I would recommend this printer.
