not sure some will like this 'painting effect'
the picture was taken on the same day as the river shots in other posts
the 'monument' shows 'molly malone' a legendary fish monger who lived in dublin many years ago
it's situated near Grafton Street in the city
(Trinity College railings are opposite)
sometimes people take a short rest ..sitting close to her for a few minutes
some even have a quick lunch
:)
not too easy to get a shot as people are passing all the time.
coming and going ,as it is in cities
thanks

I like it. The painting effect works well and doesn't take anything away from the photo, IMO.

Molly would like this photo!
I think the effect does this print justice.

In Dublin's fair city,
where the girls are so pretty
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheel'd her wheel barrow
Thro' streets broad and narrow
(Chorus)
Crying "Cockles and Mussels alive, alive O!"
Alive, alive O! Alive, alive O
Crying Cockles and Mussels Alive, alive O!

Ya done her justice Marie, wonderful photo, wonderful effect

Is it true some locals refer to this statue as the "tart with the cart"?
Nice picture and effect BTW.

yes
good for you:)
another monument outside the G.P.O on O'Connell Street was removed eventually
it used to be named 'the floozy in the jacuzzi'
a stiff lady (statue) was shown lying (relaxing) in the water (with long flowing hair)
but after a good night out some lads used to . :o into it ,
and on top of her.
all (of the monument) was removed
at a cost I expect
it was a bad idea anyway. whoever thought of it in the first place.
it was something to replace the space of the blown up Nelson's Pillar nearby
( blown up in the early '60's )
thanks

as you probably know the other verse of the song kills Molly off
'she died of a fever and no one could save her
and that was the end of sweet Molly Malone:(
now her ghost wheels her barrow
through street's broad and narrow
singing cockles and mussels alive alive o'

Interesting effect, Marie! I'd like to see just a bit less of it on her head & shoulders, but it's pretty nice as it is.
