You should be able to plug the camera into your USB port and transfer the images without needing to install the Canon software if you have Windows XP or Vista or Mac OS X.

I have windows 2000! I installed Twain Drivers and it detected "new hardware" after the installation. Before when I plugged in the USB it would do nothing. Now it will detect new hardware beu it gets stuck on connecting everytime. I have tried several times, but same thing. The Twain download made a difference, but obviously needs some tweaking!
Thanks

I tried unplugging and plugging back in the usb, it opens Adobe Photoshop Album 3.0 Photo downloader and gives a prompt saying connecting to device, but never does anything else.

End the PS Album program and go directly into Windows Explorer instead. You should see the CF card in your camera as a removable drive.

go to "start " then go to my computer you will see a list of your drives .have your camera plugged in while doing this and it should show up. click on the icon for your camera it will open the files then click copy files to computer .you dont need the software to load pictures from any camera onto your computer . ;o)
