Anyone familiar with this tripod. I am looking for pod to supplement my old Bogen 3010 I have had for years. I like the idea that it has the horizontal center post option and that the bottoms of the legs are waterproof. It seems that is operates the leg extensions differently, too. What are the pros and cons of that? Thanks for the help.

I don't know how everyone else will respond but when I messed with it in the store last week it felt extremely weak like a toy almost. It may have been that it was just because it was a demo but I'm can't say for sure. Basically you just pull the legs out one at a time, and press a release button at the top of the legs and push the leg back in to retract. To me it was like widening and shortening a set of tin curtain hangers, like the generic ones at Wal-Mart. I was really disappointed since I thought it was a cool idea. Again, it could just be that there was a lot of dirt in the leg tracks making it seem weak and scratchy. Please go to the store and look at it before you buy it. You are either going to love it or hate it, but I wouldn't purchase something on-line without being able to handle it at some point before making up my mind. Good luck!!

Since you did not list the specific model number I can not be sure that it is the same one that I have. That said if it is, I love it and so does everybody else. I belong to a group of about 100 photographers and some one is always trying to walk off with it. :-) There is nothing weak about it. I bought mine when I seen a demo of a man, yes a man supported by it. It is designed so that the more weight applied the sturdier it becomes. (To a point of course) It is a snap to set up and take down. Adjusting the legs for positioning is even easier. I use my tripod far far far more now than I ever did before. The drawback though is that it is HEAVY.

Personally I found it to be over priced for what it is...
