i went to NY this weekend (from wisconsin) .. **** that city never sleeps!!!
anyways i used all my sd cards and i was looking for a new one to buy,, the man at a "trinkit" store told me that a 1 gig sd card is $15.00 and a "high speed" 1 gig sd card is $50.00
can someone please tell me the diffrence, will this diffrence matter with my canon sd1000 camera?
thanks - jay

you probably won't see much difference with that camera, you will see a difference when saving to your computer. I could be wrong because I have never compared the two in that camera, but most PnSs don't write fast enough to really take advantage of a faster card. That being said, I was told the same thing and purchased both a high speed 150x and a regular speed I think it was 40x or something, and I can see a difference in my s5, I mostly just keep the slower card in my bag for an emergency backup, also I didn't pay anywhere near 50 bucks for my high speed card, for an extra 5 bucks I would say it is worth it, for more then three times the amount I would say not for that camera, or my camera for that matter...

!!!!!!!!! $50! Their nuts! I just bought an 8GB Kingston Class 6 (the High speed one) SDHC card from Amazon for $30 for my SD1100IS! And YES it will work in the SD1000 too!

yeah I think I paid 15 bucks for my 150x 2gb card, but I guess it's different when you are stranded and need the card right then, so you can't order it, the high speed cards are still pretty expensive in retail stores. $50 for 1gb is still crazy though...

From what I understood in reading several reviews the high speed card makes for alot better videos on a S5 IS Canon. I bought one of these(Transcend 4GB SDHC CARD SD 2.0 SPD Class 6) off Amazon back in December and have used it the most and have had NO problems with it.This SDHC card has the fastest read/write speed available right now. Class 6 has a minimum read/write speed of 6mb/sec. I may get the 8 gb or 16 gb version next. The price is awesome, I see the 4gb has dropped to half what I paid!

I recently bought, from Costco, a SanDisk 4gb SDHC card with it's own little USB reader for $30. It works both in my 590IS and my XSi. (I hear that SDHCs don't always work in all card readers.) They also have a pair of 2gb SanDisk Ultra II SDs for $34.95 which were on sale a couple of months back for $29.95. I like the SanDisk brand.

ben_r - I have an SD1100IS. When I wanted to get a SDHC card I was told by Canon that the highest capacity card that this camera would take is 4GB SDHC. I naturally bought this card. I am annoyed now as a 8GB would have been much better. Love the camera though!

sdhc cards are only compatible with Digic 3 camera's, which the SD750 and above are. check Sandisk at Buy-Dig (and others) and also check for rebates too! ;)

Yep, they were not correct. I have an 8GB in mine that I ALSO used in my SD1000 and they both formatted fine and showed the full capacity. ANY device SDHC compliant should go up to 32GB.
