Can someone explain to me what is actually happening when one uses the H setting on the 420? I know it allows it to sync at shutter speeds faster than 1/200, but there's got to be more to it. Why/How?
thanks,
daniel

Follow the link to the EOS Flash Bible in the EOS Flash sticky at the top of this forum. Here's a direct link to FP (Focal Plane aka High-Speed Sync) mode flash.

Here's another link with a pictorial description of what happens. It's from an online copy of Canon's EOS Flashwork pamphlet.
