I miss my Red Winged Blackbirds. So I got all sentimental and looked through my old pics. Here's a few of my favorites.
My absolute favorite - screaming his fool head off. I love that song.

The first time I managed to catch the yellow in the shoulder patch. A very happy moment for me.

I never realized that they aren't always a solid black until I saw this guy.

Only another 3 or 4 months and they'll be back... <sigh>
PS: If you happen to currently have Red Winged Blackbirds in and around your locale then I just don't want to hear it. :)

Nice shots. I love the one on the cattail. It reminded me of the last time I saw RWB's, a couple years ago in Colorado. They were lighting on the cattails there, too. I don't know why I never see any around here.

Those are really great shots, especially the first one. It looks like it is real mad.
What lens did you use?

Good RWB shots. I had one RWB in my viewfinder today, but it barely had any red to it, and definitely not red and yellow.

Great RWB shots, Scott. A couple of more months and it'll be RWBC again. Time to start collecting them dues again.

Like the one of the singing bird. Looks like an opera singer in full costume (puffed out sleeves and flowing gown ?):-), and theres definitely none of those here :-).

I'm glad you all liked these reposts. I really can't wait until they get back.
SW2001: These were all with the 100-400L, and I'm pretty sure that the first one had a 1.4TC on it, too.

Beautiful shots Scottes, as usual. I like the RWB because they are one of the first signs of spring her in MN. I always smile the first time I hear "oak a leaf" (that's what it sounds like to me anyway :) ) It's supposed to be -30F here tonight so spring is a happy thought.

KartGirlsMom - You know, many people call their song "okalee" so you're right on the money. Here's a page of sound recordings: http://www.learner.org/jnorth/tm/spring/RedwingDictionary.html
cmM: Yeah, I know. I got too darn busy, and now I lack motivation. It will probably get a revival after I see my first RWB in the spring. :-)

Holy posting Batman! Congrats tom and I think Scott might fall behind a little this weekend unless you consider that posts he makes from Canada are worth double. Yeah, that would work.:):):):):):):)

I guess we're all coasting this weekend. We're off to the Bay Area first thing tomorrow morning. I'll be checking in, but won't have much time for fun and games.
Later.

Nice 'shots'!
=========================
NOT PC, so if your'e 'sensitive', stop reading.
I used to love seeing them perched on a stalk, waving in the wind.
EXIF data: 5-15 mph winds, 100-200 yards, 22-250, .1 second exposure.
Now I shoot cardboard.
