Hi everyone! I was just wondering why some of the Gtizo tripods don't have a column on them. Is it for better support due to lack of the column? I was looking to upgrade to the 3530s or something similar in spec. Thanks in advance! :)

If you don't need the column, the tripod is more stable if you remove it.
The "Systematic" series come without a column by default, but you can add one. (Or a number of other options, like a leveling base)

Thanks for the reply Douglas. I'll probably get one without the column and if I ever need it, I'll add one. Thanks for your help.

You're welcome. And I'll take it as a compliment

I have the 3530S and added a center column. I am surprised at the rigidity of the center column as I do not notice any difference in rigidity even when it is extended to the top. Intuitively, you would think the center column would decrease rigidity, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the twist column that I own. In fact, the only wobbling I notice on the tripod comes from either the tripod ring on the lens or the gap between the body and the vertical grip.
The biggest disadvantages to the center column, IMO are:
- eliminates the ability to go right to the ground
- increased weight
