I am VERY new to posters and would appreciate any input. These are templates that I purchased on line from artistic action. I want to use them as samples (all parents have agreed to allow me to use their children) at home games for potential sales. Please give me some honest feedback including how much these should sell for. The first one is an 8x10 template and the second one a 12x18.
Thanks

Hey Welcome!... Hadn't seen you around before. :)
It seems you used 7410 for the first one. I think -though it looks good- that perhaps an image with the attitude of say photo 7415 or 7525, would have shown a bit more action. I do like the template. In my experience, Pre-season training photos are really tricky to get good enough for marketing and publicity (whether it be the Lodi dustrisers varsity team, or the SF 49ers).
On the second one, I would only think about more action-ey photos at the bottom, I really like the top banner one (B&W). But again, you have a coach, and other images that are not bad at all.
So these are more 'on the side' thoughts than a critique, really.
Thanks for sharing.

I also use artistic action templates. I've found that the market will pay what the market will pay. I think the templates help differentiate my posters from other photographers who just take the pictures. In some areas people are willing to pay $75-$100 for an 24x36 unframed poster. In others, parents will complain for paying $15 for a custom 8x10. I think it's all about percieved value. In my area there was a photographer charging $5 for 4x6 that were really snapshots, and parents were buying them. I'll post a picutre I use for marketing my posters. Since I use a 70-200 lens that takes better photos than the standard lens, and spend money on the templates, I won't make the posters for less than $50 each on a 24x36.

PhotoJ: Thanks for the welcome and the comments. I am new in here.
Cargo: Thats an awesome poster. I'm still learning and will attempt to tackle the "cut out" versions next. Right now I only have a couple of football templates since that's all I'm shooting right now. I've been asking around some of the parents and think that as a starting point I could probably get away with $20 for an 8x10. I guess that a good start.
Slaps: Thanks for your comment.

I think they look great. One thing though, is the "e" in pre-season supposed to look like that?

I hadn't noticed the "E". Not sure why that happened. Maybe when I resized it for the web. I'll double check it when I print it.
Thanks
