Sunpak Power Zoom 5000AF and 40D

So I have a Sunpak 5000AF and just got a 40D...flash no worky with the cam.

It worked fine with my XTi, changes on the cam would cause changes to setting on the flash, like I assume it should. Not so on the 40D.

Now I will say upfront I am a super duper newb when it comes to flash at all, but I am trying to learn before I decide on upgrading to the 580EX...

With that said...what am I doing wrong?

All the settings on the flash are the same as when it was on the XTi.

Any help is appreciated, I have a night club shoot coming up and like the flash for that.

its not ettl2 flash. i used it with 10d in auto mode without problems. its very nice one with plenty of power and controls. buy canon ex or metz/sigma and use sunpak as a slave.
