Well, I've heard lot of praise for Tamron, some people claim almost good as 24-70mm F/2.8 L from Canon....

I've heard some people claim the same thing about the new Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO too.

I am thinking of getting "standard zoom lens" with 2.8F..
choices are...

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO
Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 EX DG
and famous Tamron 28-75

I guess not many people have experience with these Sigma lens since these are quite new but.. have anybody hard anything about them???

I ordered the Tamron 28-75 XR Di, and I have an old post somewhere about it... I got a DUD and J&R didn't have any new ones coming in... after waiting about a week, I finally decided to just go Sigma. I would say that the Tamron was noticable lighter than the sigma..

I ordered the Tamron 28-75 XR Di, and I have an old post somewhere about it... I got a DUD and J&R didn't have any new ones coming in... after waiting about a week, I finally decided to just go Sigma. I would say that the Tamron was noticable lighter than the sigma..

so you have the Sigma (whichone?) and how is the picture quality??

ya I have heard about a lot of good things about Tamron except their problem with quality control.. I thought if Sigma is as good.. I thought 24-70 is nicer or 28-70 has internal forcus..

I got the Sigma 24-60 f/2.8 EX DG. I heard some of the 24-70's weren't quite as good. Picture quality... personally I think it's great, but I'm not a "pro". Images are sharp I use it mostly for a "walk-around" lens. Although I wish they had something like a 14-80 or something because with the crop-factor, 24 is not wide enough for confined spaces -- indoor for parties and such.
