Hello All-

I have ordered a 20D w/ 17-85IS about two weeks ago and the camera shop tells me they don't even know when it will come in. Has anyone else been told this or anyone know what's up?

Down here in NZ, I waited three weeks for mine (Late November it arrived), I had to buy my way to the top of the waiting list, as they seemed to be getting only three at a time.

Was in a shop yesterday, and they said that ot hasn't changed much, however they did have a 20D in the cabinet that had been there two days (a record apparently).

I ordered one today from Ritz Camera, to replace my 20D w/18-55. They seem to be somewhat in short supply. I tried to buy one in mid-December to no avail. However due to dust on the sensor out of the box, the store let me keep it and shoot while the 17-85 came back into stock. I hope this lens is a upgrade to the 'other' kit lens.

Most Best Buy's can have them to your house in 5-7 days.

They have a 20D in a store here in Wellington, the price was less than NZ$3K but i'm not sure by how much. I almost had them take it out so I could see how it feels myself, but I was a little scared that i'd walk out holding it...

Stock to stores is dictated by sales volume. A store that sells only a few of them at a time will have a waiting list while big store chains and large volume web stores will probably get them in larger quantities.

I got mine in Germany last week.

It seems to be back-ordered at most internet sellers with very low prices. At the place I got it (internet seller with moderate, but not very low prices), the 'camera only' and '17-85 bundle' were not available, so I went for the '18-55 bundle' that they had.

If you want to have the 17-85 lens, it might take longer because most likely the sellers won't order that many of these.

Best regards,
Andy

What is meant by buying your way to the top?

I saw a 20D in our local Best Buy the other day. It was with the 18-55 and from everything I have read, that is a very basic lens. I really want the versatile 17-85 due to this might be the only lens I will buy for a while. I already have two other lenses for my Elan II that will compliment the 20D quite nicely. It sure would be nice to get that 10-22 though. is there anyone here that has experience with the EF-S 10 - 22 mm F3.5 - F4.5 USM?
