I'm riding (road bicycle) 45 miles for the MS society in Sept and need to raise $250 by August 15th... if you'd like to donate a few bucks, please use this link: http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/mikepanic
I haven't figured out the logistics yet since I refuse to wear a cycling jersey which would give me pockets in my back, but I will more than likely be rigging a point and shoot camera to the frame of my bike to do shots / video as I ride... similar to this mount: http://photojojo.com/content/diy/attach-a-camera-to-your-bike/ but in a better location.
If any of you have suggestion on a better place or way to mount a compact point and shoot (I don't have a remote for it and one isn't available), please leave comments. your donations are tax deducatable as well... so thank you in advance to anyone who donates.

Thanks for helping to raise money for this very worthwhile charity. I have MS and for many years I participated in the local MS Walk. I had a friend at work before I retired who participated in the MS Bike ride (I think that it was 100 miles and took a couple days) and also rode his bike in other charitable events.

Bill,
There is 4 different distances that can be ridden this year, 25, 45, 75 and 75 on saturday and 75 sunday (150 total). Being that I've only been road riding for about a month, I'm willing to try to tackle the 45 miles.
Thanks for your support, I really enjoy these types of events and shoot a local breast cancer awareness 5k run every fall - only women can participate and last year they had close to 10k people, it was insane.
Pleae pass the above link on to anyone you know who may be interested in donating on my behalf, I'm now at 39% of the goal I'd like to reach and would very much like to surpass it. Even $5 helps out.

Good job, Mike. I also do the MS ride here.
What is your issue with a cycling jersey? They do make ones without the obnoxious graphics and logos. I have some from Pearl Izumi that are just black and grey... solid reds and yellows from other makers as well. A good selection at discount:

If I were mounting a point and shoot to my bike I would probably start with a base to an old cycling computer... then superglue or epoxy on a tripod mount screw. (edit just read the link and that way rocks)

Not real into the form fitting spandex - and I'm still a bit over weight... :)

Hey I hear ya, I'm no slim pickens myself... The sizing on cycling gear is just hilarious, eh? In normal men's shops I'm a medium shirt (41R suit size) and in most cycling gear I wear an XL :D
You might be surprised if you try a jersey though -- they're not made from spandex and the link above (Sierra) does carry some XL and XXL (if you can get over the fact of purchasing the size hehe)... the jerseys (besides having the nifty pockets) also breathe so much better than a cotton shirt. Maybe check out some Underarmour instead if you don't go for that, same material for the most part.

Jersey is a must if you ask me. I have ridin 700 miles so far this year(I just got it 3 months ago too) Best exercise ever!!
The jersey will wick sweat MUCH better than a cotton T. Pearl Izumi makes great stuff. Padded SHORTS are a must on a 30+ mile ride.
Under Armor, or Champion makes shirts that look less fitting. I wear BRIGHT yellow so cars can see me. Dont care what I look like and Im thin!!! I have seen PLENTY of larger guys in spandex-lycra!!
Im thinking of doing a cancer ride this year in Sept. I want to do 100 miles, but may just do 50 to be safe.
Good luck on your ride.

I ride 25-45 miles/day, and the two biggest things that help are:
1. A bike that is properly fitted to you.
2. Bike shorts. Don't skimp here. BTW, wear NOTHING under your bike shorts!

Im starting to ride more. Its a great feeling. I was worried about what I looked like at first, but now I dont care. Got fitted first thing and my bike is part of me. Now to build up some cardio.
Im riding in Sept for cancer survivors. Good luck on your ride.
