Last night I had the chance to shoot my friend's band Rocket at the Viper Room in Hollywood. I haven't done any concert photography before so I was looking forward to the opportunity. Not knowing how much gear I could get away with bringing in, I decided to pack light. I took only my 100mm f/2 on my 5D leaving everything else at home.

Here is the whole gallery:

C&C greatly appreciated.

Enjoy!

good stuff for a first gig shoot. When a guitarist is rocking out though, make sure you're focusing on the face and not the guitar head.

3 is a decent shot but it would have been awesome had her expression been in focus.

I love these girls and I miss them so! Thanks for sharing the photos! I never get sick of seeing my girl Lauren rocking the keytar! =]

I disagree, of course you want shots of the performer and not all shots of the guitar head but this is a shot that has somewhat become standard, getting nice clear definition of the instrument and the hand and the performer framed neatly behind the guitar. Very good artsy shot.

I don't post much here as my paid work has filled up my time. I'll post some from a client I shot a few months back but just got to the processing.
