Has anyone implemented the Canon S40 firmware upgrade?

It was released on Thursday April 4 2002, 17:38:47
Although I am used to implementing PC upgrades because I have the PC software debugging tools to fix it if there is a problem, I am not so keen on upgrading my expensive camera at my own risk (part of the licence agreement) just in case it goes wrong and I am left with a non-functioning camera that needs to be returned to Canon - who might charge for it to be 'restored' to working order. I received my new camera in June but it had the previous firmware release...
The latest Firmware update Ver. 1.1.0.0 provides the following user benefits:
Supports Direct Print Function for CP-100 Photo Printer
Supports Exif 2.2
Supports ON/OFF selection of the power-saving mode while connected to a computer
Firmware update Ver. 1.1.0.0 provides the following modification:
Modifies the firmware so that the exposure compensation settings apply in the movie mode
Corrects the phenomenon that caused occasional CF write errors when taking photos in the high speed continuous shooting mode
The necessity of updating can be checked by the following procedures: Go to the above weblink and continue as though you are going to download the upgrade. read all the pages by pressing next and at the end is a box where you can input the Serial Number of your camera on the bottom of the Download Page, and then click "submit" button. If your camera needs updating, a downloading screen for the Firmware Update Data will appear. You can abort at this point or download the software and store it on your PC and then decide whether you want to actually implement the upgrade or not.
If you want to quickly check whether your camera needs the upgrade then use this link and go to the bottom of the page:
http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/PSS40/PSS40_Firmware5-e.html
but then go back to the first weblink and read all the preceding pages in order!
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has done the upgrade themselves. How did it go?
I have discovered that Canon UK will upgrade the camera free of charge during the period it is under warranty (first year of purchase). Will update here when I have had it done. Watch this space...
